Junior Program Grades 2 to 5

Growing confident, capable, and independent learners

The Junior Program (Grades 2–5) is a time of important growth—academically, socially, and emotionally.

At Summit Micro School, we support students as they begin to better understand themselves, how they learn, and how they relate to others. With guidance and encouragement, they develop confidence, independence, and a strong sense of responsibility for their learning.

In a supportive and inclusive environment, students feel a true sense of belonging as they explore their interests, build meaningful relationships, and grow through new challenges.

Project-Based Learning

Project-Based Learning is a cornerstone of the Junior Program, giving students the opportunity to learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

Through this approach, students:

  • Explore questions that spark their curiosity

  • Work collaboratively and learn from one another

  • Make connections across different subjects

  • Share their ideas and learning in creative ways

With the support of educators, students also learn to plan, reflect, and take ownership of their work—building confidence and independence over time.

Language and Math

Building strong academic foundations with confidence and clarity

In the Junior Program, students develop literacy and math skills through a personalized approach that meets them where they are and supports their growth.

We focus on:

  • Building a deep understanding of concepts

  • Strengthening confidence in reading, writing, and math

  • Developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Encouraging independence and strong learning habits

As students progress, they gain clarity in their learning and begin to see themselves as capable, confident learners.

Students are supported to:

  • Build self-awareness and express their emotions

  • Develop emotional regulation and resilience

  • Form strong, respectful relationships
